Kitchen measuring tools are essential to get the ideal blend of ingredients for any recipe.

The array of equipment you need to bake even a simple recipe can be intimidating and confusing. What’s the difference between a dry and liquid measuring cups ? Which baking pan you should buy?

Mrs. Safa will answer your questions

Measuring Cups (Liquid and Dry)

When measuring dry ingredients, use dry measuring cups or weigh them with a scale. For liquids, stick to a liquid measuring cup. Here are some of the dry ingredient examples used in baking: Yeast, baking flour or all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder etc.

Dry measuring cups are designed to measure dry ingredients like flour, nuts, and berries, while liquid measuring cups are designed to measure liquids like water, cooking oil, and yogurt.

“A minor difference in the weight of the batter used for each layer can result in an uneven cake, causing a bakery to lose valuable time.”

Rolling Pin

Rolling pins are usually used for rolling out dough for pastries, such as pies and cookies, but can also be used for rolling out bread dough for items like pizza, cinnamon rolls, and pasta.

If you’ve never owned a pin, or are thinking about getting a good all-purpose one, consider a good, classic hardwood pin fitted with a rod and handles; baker’s rolling pins are often easier to use than a dowel pin.

The most important thing to remember about a rolling pin is that it should feel comfortable in your hands and produce results you can be proud of.

 Wire Rack

No one wants soggy, overbaked cookies and cakes for dessert. From resting your meats to baking, it’s easy to find a use for a wire rack every day, no matter what you’re cooking.

This handy tool allows air to circulate around baked goods as they cool, so they’ll taste just as great at room temperature as they did fresh from the oven. A wire rack allows air to circulate and the cookie bottoms to cool the right way.

Baking Pans

The foods are placed in the pan and the baked in the oven. Baking pans are available in a variety of sizes, materials, surface textures, and colors. Use the type of pan specified in the recipe. Recipes are carefully calculated as to yield and changing the pan size also alters the baking temperature and time.

Some of the common materials used to make baking pans are: oven-safe glass, stoneware, pottery, aluminum, tinned steel, carbon steel, aluminum.

The standard pan size, this versatile pan typically holds about three quarts. You can also convert almost any basic cake or cupcake recipe into a 9×13 pan with no major adjustments.

Round Pans:

Though they’re best known as cake pans, round pans are versatile enough to be used to make a variety of baked goods in a pinch, from brownies to cheesecakes. Round pans come in a variety of sizes. For beginners, we recommend purchasing two pans of the same size—having two stackable pans will enable you to bake your own picture-perfect layer cake.

 Loaf Pans:

All those pretty loaf cakes and homemade sandwich bread loaves come from the tried-and-true loaf pan.

Muffin Tins:

A muffin tin is a staple in any kitchen. It can be used to bake muffins, cupcakes, or any individually-portioned dessert (like cinnamon buns)
